In the World of Warcraft, glyphs are commonly used to enhance your character’s abilities and spells. In this article, we will learn more about the basics of Elemental Shaman leveling glyphs for both PvE and PvP situations.
PvE
The two most important glyphs for the PvE Elemental Shaman are Glyph of Flame Shock and Glyph of Lightning Bolt. Glyph of Flame Shock is highly valuable when it comes to your Shaman’s damage rotation. With this glyph, you don’t need to cast a Flame Shock after you use Lava Burst, saving Mana and GCD. The main purpose of Glyph of Lightning Bolt is to increase your Shaman’s damage dealing when you cast the Lightning Bolt spell.
If your Shaman has limited critical strike, Mana and spell power, you may find it more strategic to choose either Glyph of Flametongue Weapon or Glyph of Elemental Mastery over Glyph of Lava.
PvP
When selecting glyphs for PvP, there are a lot of factors to consider depending on your team’s playing style. Glyph of Fire Nova Totem will serve to your Shaman’s advantage if you put talent points into your Improved Fire Nova Totem. Since most teams have at least on class that’s able to dispel magic effects, Glyph of Flametongue Weapon will be more important than Glyph of Elemental Mastery.
Just like in PvE, Glyph of Flame Shock will be a strategic option if you want to save time and Mana. This reduces the amount of times you would need to cast Flame Shock to prepare for Lava Burst. This also saves the Shaman’s shock cooldown for an interrupting shock such as Earth Shock or Wind Shear.
You should never consider Glyph of Thunderstorm in PvP setting. Choose Glyph of Water Shield instead if Mana is the issue. Another useful glyph in PvP setting is Glyph of Ghost Wolf. Although this glyph is not very potent, it is favoured by a lot of players since it allows more PvP utility than many other minor glyphs. You will find Glyph of Water Walking very valuable in battlegrounds such as Arathi Basin and in some cases in Wintergrasp.
